Volunteer

Volunteers are essential to the FOCOS program. To date over 150 people have volunteered. Volunteers come from health backgrounds and tend to be nurses, surgeons, physical therapists and surgical technicians. See charts below for information upon volunteer numbers.

Typically volunteers join mission trips which last for two weeks. During this time volunteers perform complex spine and joint surgery on children and adults. Volunteers also work closely with staff at the local Korle Bu teaching hospital in Accra, Ghana and educate them upon the latest medical knowledge and surgical techniques.

Volunteering is not just about giving, previous volunteers feel they have gained alot from the experience and have shared their stories with FOCOS. If you are interested in volunteering simply download the FOCOS Application Form and visit the FAQ section to learn more. The dates for 2012 mission trips have been confirmed and are listed below.
