On Monday night, September 18, 2017, we had a wonderful celebration of the past and present of FOCOS during our 10th Annual FOCOS gala. We hosted over 400 guests and raised over $700,000 to support our work. These funds will be critical to our ability to effectively operate the hospital, including sponsoring patients and addressing critical needs of the organization.
We hope you left inspired and energized about our mission after hearing how our work impacts the lives of patients like Stella and Zewdie and hearing from our honorees.
We thank Georgina and Michael Bloomberg, our Humanitarian Award co-honorees, for their support and advocacy of FOCOS. They provided heart-warming remarks about their relationship with Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei and shared their excitement about the future of FOCOS.
Because of you, the FOCOS Board of Directors and staff are excited about our future. Thanks to all of you who participated, donated, sponsored or volunteered for the event. We could not have done this without you!
Please, don't wait for the next gala to give back-- join the Race-4-FOCOS challenge! Whether it is a half-marathon or CrossFit challenge, make FOCOS your fundraising beneficiary of choice! As a member of our global Race-4-FOCOS team, you will join a network of dedicated supporters who believe in our mission of providing high quality orthopedic care for all patients, regardless of barriers. The Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine (FOCOS) is an organization launched in the United States in 1998. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, affordable orthopedic care to those who would not otherwise have access to such treatment. The cases we treat are among some of the most severe in the world—many that no other team of surgeons would dare touch. With the support of our dedicated staff and volunteers and generous donors and partners, we are transforming the lives of patients throughout Africa and the world.
