Ghana has very few specialist doctors. There are only 12 orthopaedics, and 56 general surgeons for a population of over 20 million people. FOCOS has partnered with the Korle- Bu teaching hospital in Ghana and performed over 600 surgeries with the suport of local staff and volunteers. Paschaline Adaamba underwent surgery at Korle-Bu and shares her FOCOS story. Going forward FOCOS will carry out all surgery and outpatient services in a brand new FOCOS hospital near Accra in Ghana. This hospital will also serve as a education and training hospital for health professionals in Ghana and west Africa. |
