Ghana has very few specialist doctors. There are only 12 orthopaedics, and 56 general surgeons for a population of over 20 million people. FOCOS has partnered with the Korle- Bu teaching hospital in Ghana and performed over 600 surgeries with the suport of local staff and volunteers. Paschaline Adaamba underwent surgery at Korle-Bu and shares her FOCOS story.
In April 2012, the brand new FOCOS hospital opened its doors in Accra, Ghana. This 50 bed dedicated facility provides in and out patient care to adult and pediatric populations. The Hospital currently employs over 115 local Ghanaians and welcomes over 100 volunteers each year from all over the world.
